Care-Med Ltd offers direct billing is available at our clinic for medical items if supported by your Insurance Plan. Some insurance providers allow direct billing for medical items, while others may not. If direct billing isn;t supported, you’ll need to submit the invoice directly.
We encourage you to contact your insurance company regarding what they cover and if they allow direct billing.
Bring your insurance claim card to your visit and if you qualify, we will submit your bill online to obtain instant authorization for payment directly to the clinic for approved foot care claims.
Most Extended Health Benefits Insurance plans will cover:
- Chiropody Services
- Custom Made Orthotic Shoe Insoles (Custom Orthotics)
- Footwear Modifications
- Compression Garments (men/women socks, stockings, pantyhose, leggings etc.)
- Body Braces
- Mastectomy bras
- Breast Prostheses
Each insurance plan is unique and coverage for each product and service will vary. To ensure you understand your coverage it is best if you contact your insurance company to inquire about your plan details.
Compression Garments
Finding a good fitting garment begins by talking with the experienced Care-Med team. We will ask for your measurements to determine that each garment provides the right amount of compression for your body type.
- Hand wash in lukewarm water using a mild detergent

Some garments can be machine washed in a garment bag, mild cycle

- Hang dry
- Some custom made garments can be machine washed and need to be machine dried to bring them back to original shape
- No fabric softener
- Do not use bleach, even for colour safe clothes
- Remove stains by rubbing baking soda, an environmentally friendly compound, on the area(s).
Orthotics & Insoles
To clean your insoles, you can just use a warm water and a soapy cloth. Please do not put in the washing machine.
Lymphedema
Lymphedema is a painful swelling that happens when your body’s lymphatic fluid is unable to circulate properly and builds up in you soft tissues instead. It usually occurs in an arm or leg. Following breast surgery, many women experience a painful condition called lymphedema. Your doctor may recommend compression garments to ease your discomfort.
