In simple words – compression socks and stockings are strongest at the ankle and decrease in compression as they go up the leg up. For knee high length, compression is highest at the ankle and lowest at the calf. Thigh-High and Pantyhose, are strongest at the ankle and lower at the thigh.

Compression socks and hosiery help to return blood to the heart and decrease venous pressure and prevent blood pooling, and deterioration of the veins wall. Compression wear also provides effective relief of aching and heavy legs by helping the body in moving blood up the leg against gravity
